9/29 Inspired Butterfly Journal

Saturdays are usually not stamping days for me . . . but today was different and I found myself over at SCS checking out what the Saturday Inspiration Challenge was. You can read all about it HERE. The pillow inspiration piece can be found HERE.

I decided to cover a journal. I need a really pretty book just for me. I seem to make lots of cute things and then give them away. NOT THIS ONE!!! I was going to use it for a mileage log, but it might be too pretty for that so I think I will keep it on my nightstand to jot notes and ramblings before I go to sleep. I'm always fumbling around looking for a paper and pen just after climbing into bed because that's when I seem to think of things that I need to remember for the next day. I've learned from mistakes past that if I don't write it down, I'll forget. Or worse yet, I'll keep waking up during the night with it on my mind trying not to forget it!

I started with a dollar store notebook and covered it with 6x6 Blush paper from Basic Gray. As soon as I saw the inspiration piece I thought of the Blush paper pack that is almost too pretty to use. The SU spiral punch worked like a dream. I adhered the paper with modge podge and a sponge applicator. The little bit of edge that showed up to the left of the spirals I markered in with a brown sharpie.

The butterflies on the pillow inspired me to use SU Touch of Nature. I used Timber Brown StazOn to ink the butterfly. I find that StazOn shows up really, really well on colored paper. Then I stamped the fern around the butterfly in Creamy Caramel. The edges are sponges with Chocolate Chip. My main panel didn't seem to need a border so I left it as it was.

The designer paper that I used caused me to reach for one of my vintage sets. A retired SU set called Gentler Times. I stamped the scroll work in Very Vanilla Craft ink and dried it with a heat gun. I used Creamy Caramel paper to make the Chocolate paper pop off the background.

My ribbon is one of those tiny spools that I got at Michael's. It is pink on one side and brown on the other. Too perfect, huh? Yeah, it was just all coming together for me! LOVE it when that happens. I LOVE being in the Zone! So here is my pretty piece . . . a gift to me from me!! Thanks so much for stopping by my blog!
