12/19 SWISH!

My husband is the coach for the girls' basketball team grades 5 & 6. His assistant coaches play on our local high school varsity team. I wanted to come up with a card for the assistant coaches. When Steve travels out of town or has something unexpected come up, they are step in and fill his shoes. They are dependable and wonderful role models for the girls. So, I bought this set called Just Basketball. But, guess what . . . it's been sitting on my shelf since September! I just couldn't get inspired to make a card with it . . . until TODAY!

I started my morning as I usually do with a cruise to SCS to see what the daily challenge was. Wednesdays are Sketch Challenge days and as soon as I saw the five circles, basketballs came to mind. I jumped right up and grabbed my Just Basketball set off the shelf. The inspiration I needed to put this set to use had arrived!

The net is cut out and taped over the accent paper strip. The basketballs are popped up on foam tape as is the sentiment. I used Creepy Crawly paper because this particular sheet reminds me of the texture of basketballs. The two white circles are actually punched from Confetti Cream card stock. White seemed to stark. I stamped the basketballs onto Whisper White and then accented the lines with my black marker. All the circles are cut out with my 1 1/4" punch from SU. People always comment on my awesome paper piercing. Well, I hate to break it to you, but that is faux paper piercing. I just stick the fine tip of a Stampin'Up marker through the holes of the paper piercing template!

Supplies for this card:

Stamps: Just Basketball Paper: Basic Black, Pumpkin Pie, Confetti Cream, Creepy Crawly DP Ink: Basic Black, Pumpkin Pie Accessories: Corner Punch, Corner Rounder, Paper Piercer Template, Marker, 1 1/4" Circle Punch

This is a FABULOUS card! What a great way to use the sketch...it's just perfect for this set!!! My dad was a basketball coach for many years (he was actually my coach one year!) and this is perfect for any bball fan! I might just have to get that set now that I see such a great use for it! :-)
