8/28 Victorian Note of Thanks

Image
Some of my friends tease me about all the stamp sets that I have. I honestly don't know how many I have, but it's a lot. I "collect" them. Once in a great while I'll sell an old set . . . but most times I just unmount them and keep them.Does anyone recognize the old set I used on this card? It's from a stamp set that debuted way back in 1999 called Victorian Frame. I think it is so much fun to mix old and new and if you strolled through my house you would see exactly that in every single room of my home. So, why should my cards be any different?? lol!How was I inspired? By Kristina Warner, of course!! I missed a color challenge a week or so ago and I saw so many inspiring samples using Basic Black, Basic Gray, Whisper White and a spritz of color that I had to play, too!On the right is a picture of the inspiration piece. You can go directly to Kristina's blog HERE to read all about the challenge. For my little spritz of color, I picked Kiwi Kiss - my favor…

8/27 Some very pretty RAK cards!

Image
I met Hillary and Anasuya at convention and this week I received some beautiful cards from my new friends. Hillary and I sat at the same table during the SCS dinner and swap night. Anasuya and I were sitting together in the general assembly when the Big Shot announcement was made. (What a great way to bond!) Anyway, both of these wonderful stampers used the new Inspired by Nature stamp set that we got FREE at convention to make their cards. I just LOVE them and I will put them on display in my workshop area for a long time to come!! Thanks, ladies!!

8/27 KW Color Challenge

Image
Today I played with Kristina Warner's Color Challenge. You can read the entire post about it HERE. The colors she picked for this week are Chocolate Chip, Regal Rose, Pink Pirouette, Certainly Celery and Very Vanilla. Just yesterday I made a card that used Chocolate Chip, Certainly Celery and Very Vanilla. All I needed to do was put a little "more is more" into it! Here's the card I made yesterday:

You'll notice it's very quick to make, kind of subdued like a garden just before it rains. What will pink do to it?? I decided to find out!

Ahhhh - BRING ON THE SUNSHINE!! That's what the pink did for my card!!

I love the way the pink just put the pop into this card. It's fun to
do a more is more kind of card as I've never done that before. On the right I have a close up picture of the brads I used to add a little bling.

Supplies I used on this card:

Stamps: Pretty Amazing, Sanded, A Little Birthday Cheer
Paper: Very Vanilla, Pink Pirouette, Certainly Celery,…

8/26 My FIRST Business Associate!!

Image
I am sooooo excited to introduce to you my very first Business Associate in Stampin'Up!! I've been a consultant for just over a year and it's been a SU dream of mine to have a team of ladies who enjoy stamping to share just as I do. Katherine Narog stepped into my dream at my Open House last week in the most surprising way!! I heard the door bell ring and when I went to greet my guest, who do I see but Katherine, ringing a noisemaker, floating a balloon and carrying a bouquet of flowers. She said, "Hi and congratulations, Kay! You have your first recruit!!!" Isn't that just the most fun story? I was tickled pink to say the least and thrilled beyond words. Thank YOU, Katherine, for making my day such a happy one and for making a memory I'll never forget!! I look forward to stamping and sharing a bright future in SU with you!

It seems most appropriate to share my CELEBRATE banner with you!! As I've mentioned in my blog before, Shelli Gardner, cofounder a…

8/18 Big Shot Baskets!

Image
Look at these super cute Big Shot Baskets!! What a great way to use up some discontinued but still very cute designer paper! (Enchante DP on these particular baskets - the ribbon is Kraft Taffeta.) I made up six of these to give out as door prizes at my upcoming Open House. AND, anyone can make up their own door prize if they so desire!! (I hardly ever win a door prize so I think the option of making your own door prize is a GREAT idea!!) I do two FREE Make 'n Takes and then customers have the option of creating their own door prize for a dollar and making a Charity Card to take home for a dollar.
You might be asking yourself . . . what is a Charity card?? Well, let me post a picture of one we will be making at my Open House! Here it is -
A charity card is an optional activity at many of my events. If a customer has the time, they are welcome to make a charity card which I will then donate to my church for the Be Frienders group to use. If they want to, they are then welcome to mak…

8/17 A Featured Stamper Card!

Image
Today, I finally had a little time to play. The last couple of days, I've been getting ready for my SU Open House, creating future stamp camp projects, planning my World Card Making Day celebration, working out my club details and many other stamping related things. Is that work? Hmmm, maybe not!! lol!! But, it's playing with stuff I'm not quite ready to share, yet! . I decided it was time to do something different. I hopped on over to SCS to see who the Featured Stamper was. Lo & behold, who do I see?? Jessica Rone aka Knightrone. Jessie is my friend through Great Swaps Girls blog that you can check out HERE. Jessie is a most talented stamper and has a great gallery that you can see HERE. I found many cards that I wanted to case in her gallery, but I finally picked THIS CARD . . I noticed that Jessie used a textured layer on her card and I was anxious to try out my Big Shot using a Cuttlebug folder. Worked like a DREAM!! I am so impressed with how STURDY the Big Shot is!…

8/12 Something I learned at Convention

Image
I learned some neat things at convention and one of them will really help me in demonstrating scrapbooking how tos at my workshops. I've always hesitated a bit with scrapbooking because I knew that some of the people at my workshops were there for the cards . . . but then there are always a few who want to walk down the scrapbooking path. Well, now I know!! At convention, I learned that you can do both and use pretty much the same supplies for each. The 6x6 page above uses the same colors and pretty much the same basic design as the 6x3 card below. So, the people that want to make the page . . . can! But, the people who want to focus just on cards . . . can! I love it. I cut all the same supplies . . . provide the same colors and inks for both and the customer chooses!!
Here is the coordinating card that uses the same supplies at the 6x6 scrapbook page. Isn't it lovely? All it needs is a long envelope and it's ready to be sent out. But, today is my wedding anniversary so I…

8/11 A Sock Monkey RAK!!

Image
Look at what I got in my mailbox!! A fabulous sock monkey card!! Thank you so much, Debra! Debra has been my online RAK friend for several years now and I get so much delight from the cards she makes. She is very precise . . . and I just LOVE that!! And, you have to hear this story - I knew she was going to be at Convention, she knew I was going to be at Convention. But, we both had never been before and it's just a little over whelming!! So, just hanging with the people I knew seemed a little challenging let alone trying to meet up with people I only knew from SCS.But, luck was on our side. As many of you know, I'm kind of a coffee freak and even though my beloved Caribou was no where to be found in SLC, they did have a Starbucks just across the street. So I hopped on over and while I was standing there waiting for my drink to come up, I just happened to be looking around at some of the ladies standing near me. I noticed a tall, slim gal with kind eyes and when I looked at h…

8/7 Eastern Blooms and an AMAZING special!!

Image
A quick simple card using a couple of new stamp sets. The flower is from one of my FREE sets that I received at convention called Eastern Blooms. The words are from a new stamp set that demonstrators could order early called Heard from the Heart. The Sanded Background is new to me and I love it. It puts just the perfect amount of color onto a background piece. . I wondered what would replace the Prints Designer Series paper as I've loved them well these past 12 months. When I got my catalog at convention, it was one of the first places I flipped to and I let out a big sigh of relief. They were still there!! A few new colors . . . like Chocolate Chip and every single one of the In Colors, some new designs, and a new name. They are now called Patterns Designer Series paper. . Supplies I used for this card: Stamps: Eastern Blooms, Sanded, Heard from the Heart Paper: Confetti White, Pacific Blue, Baja Breeze, Certainly Celery Designer Prints Ink: Pacific Point Accessories: Scallop Circle Punc…

8/6 Living with a Passion for New Stamps!

Image
It's a beauty, isn't it??? This set is called Inspired by Nature and it was one of my FREE SETS that I received at convention. I just couldn't wait to get it inky . . . but with so much going on, I've only been able to stamp once since convention. But, the result was well worth those minutes of stolen time!!

I started out by following a challenge posted at the Great Swaps Girls Blog that you can read about HERE. We were to use at least three embellishments and I believe I used four on this card. They all blend together so well that I had to count twice to make sure I was figuring it out right. I used black eyelets, which will soon be discontinued from the SU catalog. I used ribbon (of course!), a heart shaped paper clip, and for the sparkling touch Chunky Essentials in Black.

Whoops, it's off to dance again . . . for the third time today!!

Here are the supplies I used:

Stamps: Inspired by Nature
Paper: Really Rust, Basic Black, Confetti Cream
Ink: Really Rust stamped of…

8/4 Convention Highlights!!

Image
My head is still spinning from the fantastic days I spent at Stampin' Up's Celebrate '08 Convention in Salt Lake City. I was so excited I couldn't even sleep the night before, at least not very much. I hadn't been on a plane in forever and I kept thinking of things I should maybe pack. I wondered if I shouldn't just get up and make some more swaps! I kept "resting" but my mind was NOT!! Finally, off to the airport we went and before I knew it, we were in Salt Lake City. A shuttle bus dropped a big group of us off at the convention center and off we went to get our special SU convention bag containing our THREE FREE STAMP SETS and the fantabulous NEW CATALOG inside!! We immediately sat down at a nearby table and started paging through it, ooohhhing and aaahhhing at every turn of the page. Finally, I decided to catch a cab and go to my hotel. But, as I cross the hallway . . . WHO do I run into??? None other than Kristina Werner!!! I gave a shout and she…
