2/25 Botanical Friendship

This is a card I made recently to try out brand new Botanical Blooms, one of our Sale-a-bration sets. My favorite part of the card was stamping on the yellow Delicate Dots Designer Series paper, another Sale-a-bration reward. The sentiment comes from the set called All Holidays. I just LOVE that sentiment and it was the main reason that I purchased the set. Of course, I use the other stamps in that set, too, all the time in fact . . . but My Dear Kind and Wonderful is definitely my favorite. I also love the way the Eyelet Border punch shows up so nicely against the Chocolate Chip paper panel.

Supplies I used to create this card:

Stamps: All Holidays, Botanical Blooms
Paper: Ruby Red, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White, Delicate Dots DSP, Certainly Celery Prints DSP
Ink: Ruby Red, Certainly Celery, Chocolate Chip
Accessories: 5/8" Chocolate Chip Grosgrain Ribbon, Eyelet Border Punch, Dimensionals

2/25 Raspberry Tart RAK

Debra Tack sent me a very pretty card that really showcases our jazzy Raspberry Tart Designer Series paper. I love how she layered the sentiment!! Who do you know that you could send a card to today? Why not take a minute to brighten someone's day with a Random Act of Kindness. Thank YOU, Debra, for sending me a RAK and bringing sunshine to my day!

2/23 Weekend Sketch Challenge 69

Baja Breeze and Pacific Point are two of my favorite In Colors this year so when I checked out the Weekend Sketch Challenge, I couldn't help but gravitate in that direction. Maybe I can forget that it's less than 10 degrees outside if I keep thinking about white sand and southern pacific breezes.
You may have noticed that I skipped trying to make a paper panel below the branch image and decided to go with a ribbon accent instead. The paper just wasn't working for me so ribbon to the rescue!
Here are the supplies I used to create this card:
Stamps: Eastern Blooms, Heard from the Heart
Paper: Baha Breeze, Chocolate Chip, Pacific Point, Whisper White
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Pacific Point
Accessories: Eyelet Border Punch, Pacific Point Striped Grosgrain Ribbon, Dimensionals

2/22 PIZZAZZ!!

Now, you have to admit . . . getting a card like this would definitely put some pizzazz in your day, right?? I am totally jazzed right now just from making it!! (Of course, stamping tends to do that to me anyway! lol!) This card is so snazzy because it uses a set new to the Spring/Summer 2009 Idea Book and Catalog - Petal Pizzazz. I paired it up with a stamp set called Define Your Life, thinking I would use one of the definitions. However, once I got into the flow of the card, I decided to use the title stamp because with all that purpleness . . . it just seemed to fit better.

The first thing I did was sit down with my Inspiration Book and when I did, I came across this picture of a bedroom done in purples with hues of blue and yellow. It's from the February 2009 issue of Country Living Magazine.

My first step was to randomly stamp my images all over a full-sized piece of Whisper White paper. As I stamped, I imagined my paper devided into four equal card sized sections. That helped me with the placement of the flowers. I left a lot of looseness between the flowers so that I would be able to easily add accent images to my card. I used Brocade Blue, Orchid Opulence, Old Olive and So Saffron inks to stamp the background. Then, I cut the background into four panels . . . three to use on my cards and one to cut up and use on the inside of the cards.

This is the grouping of three cards that came from that background piece. The accent pieces were stamped with Kiwi Kiss and Elegant Eggplant ink. Then I added a little BoHo Punched Blossom. To make the line on each side of the sentiment, I used the stem that comes with the Petal Pizzazz set. Cool, huh? It just keeps the whole card flowing!

Above is a picture of the inside. I kept it simple with just a strip of patterned background across the top of the correspondence panel.

Stamps: Petal Pizzazz, Define Your Life
Paper: Elegant Eggplant, Old Olive, Whisper White, Kiwi Kiss, Brocade Blue, So Saffron
Ink: Orchid Opulence, Old Olive, Brocade Blue, So Saffron, Kiwi Kiss, Elegant Eggplant
Accessories: BoHo Blossome Punch, Scallop Circle Punch, Stamp-a-ma-jig, Sponge, Dimensionals, Circle Fire and Circle Ice Rhinestone Brads

2/18 Weekend Sketch Challenge

I found another sketch challenge to take part in. This one is the Weekend Sketch Challenge. You can read all about it HERE.
I decided to make a birthday card. Making the circles was a lot of fun . . . especially since I'm starting to get the hang of using Stampin'Up's new Circle Scissors. It can be a bit tricky at first . . . but then I discovered that by using a little Dotto to hold your paper in place, the circles can be cut quick as a wink!! Fastest circle cutter I've ever used!
Supplies I used:
Stamps: Party Hearty
Paper: Basic Gray, Tangerine Tango, Whisper White, Tangerine Tango Patterns DSP
Ink: Basic Gray, Tangerine Tango
Accessories: Circle Scissors, 1/4" Circle Punch, 3/4" Circle Punch, Tangerine Tango Striped Grosgrain Ribbon, Dimensionals

2/17 A RAK from My Friend Mary

One of the most wonderful aspects of becoming a Stampin'Up demonstrator are the demonstrator friends I have made. Mary Rindal is such a friend. She moved to MN last summer and through SCS found a friend who knew me and hooked us up. I invited Mary to attend my demonstrator meetings, and also to come to any of my events that she wanted to. Her son, Trace, often comes along and hangs out with my daughter, Kasey. She gave me an absolutely LOVELY Valentine's day card pictured above. Of course I LOVE it. Mary is an absolute PRO with using the hat pins from our Pretties Kit. She has even inspired me to add them onto a card or two!

T'hen, she says, and I have something else for you and Kasey that the two of you can enjoy together. And, OH, did we enjoy it!! I've taken lots of pictures so you can enjoy it, too!! Thank you so much, Mary!

She created a basket from a 12x12 sheet of paper, decorated with our Delicate Dots Designer Series Paper and filled it with all kinds of goodies for my daughter and I.

Kasey's special V-day card from Mary and Trace. Don't you just love that banner over the pink designer paper. And how does one cut cherry stems that perfectly?? AMAZING!!
This was a treat holder filled with yummy fruit snacks and a very cute post it note holder. My daughter was nice enough to share the snacks with her sisters and her mom, too!

Mary knows how much I love the new Jackpot designer series paper so she created a Game Day card for me. Totally AWESOME!
Then, I got a gorgeous hand-crafted journal and some chocolate nugget treats.
And, isn't this journal awesome?? I had to take a picture to show you how the pages flipped out for all kinds of fun scrapping and journaling.
What a joy. Thanks again so, so much Mary!

4/16 Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge

Today is Mojo Monday and here is the card I made for it. Below is the card I created, along with my Home Depot advertisement that gave me the burst of inspiration I needed to get started on this card. Sketches are a fun way to create a card quickly . . . but sometimes you just don't have a clue what colors or which stamp set to use. That is when I get out my Inspiration Book. It's a 3-ring binder with page protectors. Whenever I page through a magazine and see something that I like, I tear it out and put it in my Inspiration Book. Most of my pages are from Country Living Magazine. I refer to it often and when my customers ask me how I get all my ideas, I drag it out to show them.

You might have noticed some unusual scallop edging on my card. It came about because I was too lazy to get out of my chair to get my scallop edge punch - and my scallop square was sitting right there on my desk! Laziness . . . the mother of my invention! lol! I took a picture of how I created the scallops for the top and the bottom of my image panel. A picture is worth a thousand words as they say!

Supplies I used to create this card:
Stamps: Close as a Memory, Fresh Cuts
Paper: Garden Green, So Saffron, Old Olive, Whisper White
Ink: White Craft, So Saffron, Apricot Appeal, Garden Green
Accessories: Heat Gun, White Embossing Powder, Big Shot Machine, SU Texturz Plate Backgrounds I, Scallop Square Punch, 1 1/4" Circle Punch, 1 3/8" Circle Punch, Mat Pack, Garden Green Marker to create the faux piercings, Whisper White Organza Ribbon, Glue Dots, Pretties Kit, Dimensionals, Stipple Brush to put color onto the main image panel

2/15 Saffron Thank You

Julie Lacey inspired me with THIS CARD and I had to "case" it. Julie and I are Splitcoast friends and today she is the Featured Stamper at SCS. I am so excited for her!! Whoo Hoo, Julie!! Julie has an amazing stlye of straight lines, clean cuts and lots of layers! My card skimped a bit on the layers . . . but boy of boy, did I have fun with those brads!! Nine of them in all - lol!
I used Upsy Daisy . . . one of my favorite stamp sets that I got FREE at convention this summer. I love the three sentiments in this stamp set. I used a sponge dauber to layer color directly onto the stamp. The base of my card is Sahara Sand. I've been using that color a lot lately because it is such a nice match to the Sale-a-bration paper called Delicate Dots.
Supplies I used in this card:
Stamps: Upsy Daisy
Paper: Sahara Sand, Whisper White, So Saffron, Delicate Dots DSP
Ink: Sahara Sand, So Saffron, Apricot Appeal
Accessories: So Saffron Sale-a-bration Ribbon, Scallop Edge Punch, Gold Brads, Sponge Dauber, Dimensionals

2/15 Polka Dot Punch Flower

I've used this card several times this month at club and workshops. It's so easy to put together and it really showcases the Polka Dot Punches Stamp Set, along with the Sale-a-bration ribbon and paper. I even get to show off the Big Shot machine with this card because the stem of the flower is from a Stampin'Up Embosslit called Sweetest Stem. To give your flower extra dimension, it's important to sponge the edges. I sponged the edges of my sentiment, too.

Hope you are having a nice weekend. It looks nice and sunny from my window . . . but it's a trick!! It's really cold out today here in East Central Minnesota.

Supplies for this card:

Stamps: Polka Dot Punches, All Holidays
Paper: Sahara Sand, Certainly Celery, Whisper White, Delicate Dots DSP
Ink: Bashful Blue, Certainly Celery, Sahara Sand
Accessories: Sweetest Stem Embosslit, Big Shot Machine, Scallop Circle Punch, 1 1/4" Circle Punch, Sponges, Sale-a-bration Ribbon in So Saffron, Word Window Punch, Rich Regal Brad in So Saffron, Dimensionals

4/14 Treat Boxes and a RAK

I've been having some fun with my Big Shot lately. Here are a couple of boxes I made with the new BigzXL Box #2 Die Cut. I am amazed at how quickly these boxes can be assembled. Send your paper through the Big Shot with your die, fold, adhere the side with just one little piece of sticky strip and that's it!! I added some ribbon and a couple of Bigz Butterflies. The top box is also enhanced with a couple of stamped images from our Sale-a-bration set called Polka Dot Punches.

Box Supplies:

Stamps: Polka Dot Punches
Paper: Discontinued Stampin'Up cardstock, Urban Garden DSP
Ink: Discontinued SU Ink, Baja Breeze
Accessories: BigzXL Box #2, Bigz Beautiful Butterflies, Pretties Kit, Glue Dots, Dimensionals, Baja Breeze Striped Grosgrain Ribbon, Whisper White Organza Ribbon, Sticky Strip

My Stampin' friend, LeAnne Pugliese, sent me this cute card! I know the sweet lady bug is from the Darling Dots Level One Hostess Set. I love the faux brads in the corners. Thanks so much, LeAnne!

2/11 My First Mojo Monday Sketch

I've never participated in Mojo Monday before so why not try it out for the first time on a Wednesday? lol! I went to the Mojo Monday Blog and checked out the latest sketch. Wow . . . has this really been going on for 73 straight weeks? Where have I been? Now, that's not to say I didn't know about it. I certainly did . . . it's just that Mondays are kind of crazy days for me and there isn't always a whole lot of stampin' going on. I've printed several off in the past . . . always with good intentions and then nothing.

Today was different. I was cleaning my desk off, and I still have a ways to go in that, when I came across the sketch challenge that I'd printed off on Monday and never, as usual, got to. Then I thought, what the heck. Might as well give it a shot. So . . . I did and here it is!

Isn't it pretty?? I'm so pleased with how it turned out. I showcased our Sale-a-bration paper called Delicate Dots along with one of the ribbons in the ribbon bundle that is also a Sale-a-bration reward. The sentiment is from the stamp set called Dreams du Jour. I highlighted just the word Love with a marker and then punched it out with my 1 1/4" Circle Punch. The panel is popped up on Dimensionals. The ribbon is attached to the back of the left side of the DSP that is layered to the front of the card, then I used a craft knife to make a slit in my top panel so I could bring the ribbon out to the front of the card.

I wanted to play with Sticky Cuts. My fun SU friend, Mary, gave me some Sticky Cuts to try and I decided I would do a technique card with them for my March Clubs. Nothing like a good sketch to get rolling on something that I needed to do anyway.

I used some Chocolate Glitter on my sticky cut heart and I just LOVE how it looks. So pretty that I had to do a real close up shot to show you. Notice those awesome brads? Jumbe Size! and new in the Spring Summer Catalog. I don't always like poking them through stuff though so one of my favorite things to do is to cut those legs right off the brads and use glue dots to adhere them. I used two pop-up glue dots on each brad and it worked perfectly. Totally yummy!!

Here are the supplies for my card:

Stamps: Dreams du Jour
Paper: Certainly Celery, Chocolate Chip, Delicate Dots DSP
Ink: none
Accessories: Chocolate Chip marker, Jumbo Brads, Pop Up Glue Dots, Dimensionals, 1" Double Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon in Chocolate Chip, Celery Ribbon from Sale-a-bration Ribbon Bundle, Craft Knife, Sticky Cuts, 1 1/4" Circle Punch, Chocolate Glitter from Fine Supernova

2/5 Sale-a-bration Wedding Congrats

I decided to make a couple of wedding cards using the Sale-a-bration set called Congrats. This first card uses three different Sizzix dies, two of which are new to the spring/summer IB&C.

Here are all the supplies:

Stamps: Congrats
Paper: Not Quite Navy, Whisper White, Urban Garden DSP
Ink: Not Quite Navy
Accessories: Top Note Die, Simple Flower Embosslit Die, Little Leaves Sizzlit Die, Dimensionals, Pretties Kit

This next card is a case from Chris Smith. You can see her card HERE. I just fell in love with it the moment I saw it! I changed the colors a bit and the ribbon, but otherwise it is exactly the same! Thanks so much Chris for sharing your talents with all of us! I plan to use this card at my Christian Inspiration Card Camp next month.

Stamps: Congrats
Paper: Whisper White, Delicate Dots DSP
Ink: Sahara Sand
Accessories: Whisper White Taffeta Ribbon

2/3 Polka Dot Punch Fun

I wanted to make a card to showcase the Sale-a-bration Polka Dot Punch set along with the Delicate Dots DSP, and a couple of our newest punches . . . the Eyelet Border Punch and the Full Heart Punch. I love how whimsical this card is and it is so easy to create. The butterfly wings are popped up with dimensionals. The antennae could be dotted in with a marker most easily, but since I didn't have a Rose Red marker, I decided to use a butterfly from our Priceless set and just masked off the body. The sentiment is from the word set called Smarty Pants.

Here are the supplies:

Stamps: Polka Dot Punches, Priceless, Smarty Pants
Paper: Certainly Celery, Rose Red, Whisper White, Delicate Dots DSP
Ink: Rose Red
Accessories: Eyelet Border Punch, Full Heart Punch, Word Window Punch, Stamp-a-ma-jig, Dimensionals

I bought the set because it had such cute sentiments for twins and also for adoptive babies. I love how it turned out. She had three healthy babies . . . born on Monday and home four days later! Two boys and a girl.

Here is a picture of the inside of the card. I repeated the congratulations two more times and added three swimming duckies for some balance.
