3/2 Something Old & Something New

My "Something Old" Card uses a couple of retired stamps sets.

I like to think of Sundays as my "relaxing" day and I will sometimes stamp just for the pure joy of it . . . no business ideas . . . no challenges . . . no catching up . . . just relaxing let it flow because I love to stamp ideas. This is the card I made and I positively LOVE it!! It uses a couple of retired sets. One called Seasonal Birds and the other was Everyday Flexible Phrases. The Jumbo Wheel is current and I used it blue on blue in the background. The green paper is retired and from the pack called Petal Patch. The ribbon is from Michael's. Nothing popped up, no metal or fun fluffy stuff . . . but definitely not boring. And, bonus . . . EASY to mail!! Have you been to the post office lately? Yikes - it's like 20 questions every time! Why even have us package anything up before we bring it there since they seem to want to know exactly what is inside anyway!

Supplies for my card:

Stamps: Retired Seasonal Birds, Retired Everyday Flexible Phrases, It's Beautiful Jumbo Wheel
Paper: Bashful Blue, Chocolate Chip, Close to Cocoa, Whisper White, Petal Patch DSP
Ink: Basic Black, Certainly Celery, Ballet Blue
Accessories: Aqua Painter, non SU Ribbon, Close to Cocoa Marker

My "Something New" card uses the Big Bold Cupcake Sizzlits Dies.

The card above is one my customers got to make at a recent Birthday Cards for Kids card camp. The backgound uses the Texturz Plate from SU Backgrounds I. I love those big bold dots. I take a damp cloth and wipe my texturz plate before setting my paper on it because I think that bit of dampness preps the paper fibers so they are more willing to take on the texturz. I tried spritzing it was a spray bottle as I heard that was also a way to make the paper more accepting, but my spritzer bottle got everything too wet. I don't think dripping wet is quite the look we wanted! lol!

I had my customers apply Dotto adhesive to the back of the candles and the flame before punching them out from the paper. It made applying them to the card a lot less messy! You can do it with glue . . . but you have to have a very light touch! The heart is popped up on a dimensional. Below is a close up of the cup cake.

Supplies:

Stamps: A Little Birthday Cheer
Paper: Real Red, Basic Black, YoYo Yellow, Shimmery White
Ink: Real Red
Accessories: Big Shot, Dimensionals, Big Bold Cupcakes Sizzlits 4-pack, Texturz Plate SU Backgrounds I
