9/8 Don't Give Up Hope . . .

Even When You Can't Doodle!
.
Yes. THIS card is an example of why I shied away from all things crafty until I attended my very first SU demonstration. I didn't think I was artistic. As you can clearly see, even doodling is an activity that causes flashbacks to 1st grade art class when I had trouble following directions! Many, many years of schooling has helped me in the following directions part of my life, but my fine art skills are still clearly lacking. And, THIS is why I love Stampin'Up soooo much. I don't have to be an artist to create beautiful art projects. (scroll down in my blog to see better examples of my work! lol!)
.
Let me explain this card to you. The sketch comes from my new favorite challenge blog called Stamping 411. The operators of this blog keep their sketches simple and also put in directions that even the very most beginning stamper can learn along as they go. I was kind of excited about using a wheel as I got one FREE in my convention bag. The wheel is called Retro Remix and I thought it might work for a Christmas card. All was going along just fine. I rolled the wheel along the bottom of a white panel. Stamped the sentiment from Many Merry Messages across the top. Wrapped elastic Silver Cording to separate the images. Assembled the whole card according to the sketch using designer series paper from the pack called Merry Moments. And then, I decided the card needed something "more." I thought . . . . "hmmm. . . maybe a quick doodle or two with my Glorious Green marker would be just the thing."
.
Not. But, what is done is done. Actually, the card doesn't look half-bad from a distance! Or, if you hold it close and kind of squint your eyes . . . it's acceptable. I do like the way the brads just happened to fall perfectly into the place on the axis of that snowflake. I did not cut my paper with that in mind - it was a pleasant surprise that it turned out that way.
.
Hope you had a nice Labor Day weekend. We were at the lake and did some entertaining and believe it or not . . . I even went fishing. (Usually, I stay in the camper and stamp!)

Oh, Kay...what a fun card! I love your doodling! (But I get what you mean...I can't draw worth anything!) Thanks for playing this week!
Kay your card is great! I love the color combinations and the stamps you put together for it are great!
