This afternoon I showed my three daughters ages 12, 14 and 15 how to make Big Shot Flowers. I let them loose with some old buttons and scraps from 4-H sewing projects and they were off and creating. Of course, being absolute pros with the sewing machine, they simply had no time for fussing around with “hand stitching!” So, they got the sewing machine out and showed me how super easy it was to sew layers and tulle all at once. They were right . . . not too hard at all! Of course the pinning had me a bit befuddled, but Karel gave me a few tips and I have to say it helped. They left the sewing machine sitting out so I will give my customers the choice of what they would like to do. Below are close ups of each flower.
Kasey, my 12 year old, loves bright colors and the pops of red and pink made it into a perfect Kasey flower. She used some teal embroidery thread to put some nice contrast into the green button.
This is the flower that Kari, my 14 year old created. She is a true saffron and blue kind of girl. She even found a few scraps of light blue tulle that she used as her accent. The dark blue is from a pair of blue jean scraps that her sister kept from a hemming project. Blue on blue for the thread and button finish this flower off perfectly.
Karel, my 15 year old, is wildly creative with every project that she takes on and it was no surprise to me that she used a lot of colors and put together a fabulous button/buckle centerpiece to pull the whole design together. Totally Karel!
My customers will recognize this wall piece that came from the brown county farm house built in the 1800’s. The farm house was where I grew up and where my parents still live. This piece was recovered after a remodeling in the 1970’s. It makes a lovely spot to display our flowers!

How very cool—I say "crafts" and my daughters goes running…although she can arrange flowers and wreaths very nicely! These are awesome–my upline showed us these at our recent meeting, but I love the fun centers & tulle your girls used!
First off these flowers are GORGEOUS!!! Fun color combo… also I recognize the old vent cover! I have one too and grew up in Brown County also. My brother and his wife remodeled a house in that same area a few years back and this was in his TOSS pile… "NO"! So it's in my home now. 🙂
Brings back memories! TFS and have a super evening! Hugs from the Brainerd Lakes area… Michelle 🙂
