I have a Big Shot Class coming up and decided to create a Fancy Irish Tote for my customers to make. I used Green Galore paper for the tote which goes together lickity-split when you use the Fancy Favors Die with the Big Shot Machine. When I first started making Fancy Favor Boxes, I thought you had to start with a 12″ piece of paper to successfully make the box. But, I’ve since discovered that you can use paper only 11″ long. It’s just that your overlap flap will be shorter . . . which is really no problem, especially when you use Sticky Strip Tape to assemble your box. I actually like the shorter overlap so the 11″ length is working out great for me.
The wonderful circle rings which looks so Irish to me, are made with the Lattice Die. I used Handsome Hunter and Glorious Green and layered them together. To make it more “circular”, I just cut off the tips. You can see on the photo where that happened, but I don’t think it detracts in any way from the overall design. I adhered the whole wonderful circle design to my box with brads from the Bold Brights collection.
The center of the box uses a stamp from one of our Sale-a-bration sets called Vintage Labels. I stamped it in Green Galore onto Whisper White paper, then punched it out with the Scallop Circle Punch. I stamped the label again, but this time used Handsome Hunter ink onto Green Galore paper and punched it out a 1 1/4″ Circle Punch. And, one more time, the label is stamped onto Whisper White with Green Galore ink, the sentiment stamped with Handsome Hunter and then punched out with the 1″ Circle Punch. That last circle is popped up on a Stampin’ Dimensional.
The handle is made with a strip of paper 2″ x 11″ and adhered with brads. I just love this little project and hope that you do, too! I’m a little bit Irish through my mom, whose mother was Irish, whose mother was Irish, whose mother was from Ireland! My girls all get Claddagh rings when they turn 13. It’s a tradition in our family.
