4/25 Enameled Hearts

I LOVE the way this card turned out! I was at Milwaukee Regionals a couple of weeks ago and one of the "wow" demonstrations was all about using Crystal Effects. I'd kind of forgotten about crystal effects. I love using it when I'm highlighting a glass . . . such as our beer stein in the Cheers to You set, but beyond that . . . I tend to forget all about it! But, after seeing the WOW demo, I've been inspired to use it again. This time in a big way!

But first . . . did you notice all the embossing on this card? I used Apricot Appeal with the Perfect Polka Dot Impressions Folder and then I also used the lattice background from the Perfect Details Texturz Plates on the black panel behind the hearts. I know that doesn't show up so great on the photo . . . but it's gorgeous in every way IRL! This is a challenge card for Stampin' Connection . . . a demonstrator only gallery and forum that Stampin'Up established for us to share our creations and be inspired in by others in so many different ways. As demonstrators we have access to thousands of ideas. It's a fabulous resource and makes it easy for us to stay in close connections with each other no matter where we live. I LOVE it. If you have considered becoming a demonstrator, but are worried about whether or not you are creative enough . . . worry no more!! Stampin' Connection is a resource that will make you look like a pro from the moment you sign your demonstrator agreement!

This card uses a stamp set from our Summer Mini catalog. I know a lot of my customers have already gotten their mini catalog in the mail and can't wait for May 1 to come around so they can place their orders. I predict that this set, called Elements of Style will be a big hit . . . it's just so elegant and elegant never goes out of style.

The hearts are made with the Punch Windows Mover's and Shaper's die. I wanted them to be a little bit bigger than our heart punch so they could show off just a little bit more of that gorgeous toile stamp. I used Whisper White paper to make the hearts. I stamped the image with Basic Black ink and then used my Aqua Painter to color it in with Apricot Appeal and Certainly Celery ink. Then, I covered the entire heart with Crystal Effects. It took and long, long time to dry because we are in the middle of rainy weekend. In fact, I had to let them dry overnight . . . that's how humid it is! But, it was worth it as they are shiny gorgeous! I noticed, however, that the Whisper White was looking a little more like Very Vanilla once the Crystal Effects was on it. So the rest of my card uses Very Vanilla accents to match the hearts a little better.
