We had a “bit” of a snowstorm in parts of Minnesota this weekend so this Simply Adorned Pendant insert is truly appropriate! The snow was so heavy that it clogged up snowblowers and people had to resort to shoveling . . . can you imagine? lol!! Oh, the fun we have during the snow season in MN. Actually, some of it really IS fun . . . like snowmobiling, ice fishing, skating, skiing and stamping! (That last one there is what I like to do on a long winter night.

This pendant is sized at 1 1/2″ x 2″ and it has a beveled glass front. (the bevel did not show up in the picture, but I promise that it is there.) You do not want to put dimension on your inserts unless the insert is going into the beveled side or you can risk breaking or otherwise damaging your pendant.

My first step to create this insert was to cut a piece of Marina Mist paper to the size of the pendant. Then I used the Jumbo Wheel called Whimsy to give this insert some “wind.” I had to add some teeny tiny snowflakes dusting around, too, and I used the stamp set called Jolly Old St. Nick which had teeny tiny snowflakes that were just the size I was looking for. The stamped wind and snow were inked up with Marina Mist. I love tone on tone looks.

To make the sparkly, gorgeous white snowflakes, I took a piece of Whisper White paper and ran it through the Big Shot with the Decorative Strip Die called Northern Frost. I poked all the chads out of the flakes with my Paper Piercing Tool and then I took my Versa Mark pad and pressed it over the top of the snowflakes covering them in Versa Mark. Once that was done, I poured Heat and Stick powder over them and then I heated them up with my heat tool until they were nice and sticky. This is NOT a long process. As soon as the powder turns from white to clear you are done. If you keep going over it . . . you will lose the stick and that would not be good because the next step is to pour Dazzling Diamonds over your sticky flakes. Shake off the excess and heat it up again using your heat tool. The snowflakes will become super sparkly as the stick goes away. A fabulous technique you might want to try!

Then, I simply adhered the snowflakes to the insert and trimmed off the overhang making the edges even. I added a couple of Basic Rhinestones to complete the look. So pretty, don’t you think?
