My hostess for January Open Scrapbook Club requested that we make a page with her wedding colors . . . she and her hubby tied the knot in December. Her colors were Navy and White with lots of snowflakes and a few red hearts. I wanted to be sure that I created something to make my hostess happy . . . but would also make all the other ladies happy, too, and since they were not celebrating a wedding, I tried to make a page that would work for Valentine’s Day. Snowflakes are most appropriate for Valentine’s Day here in MN. This year we had a white Thanksgiving, a white Christmas, and I’m sure it will be a white Valentine’s Day and maybe even a white St. Patrick’s Day!!

I needed a challenge to get myself going this morning so I dropped by SCS and the Thursday challenge was to use twine or hemp or linen thread in your project. At first I wasn’t so sure that challenge was going to jump start me . . . but then I got to thinking  . . . what do we say when someone gets married? We say “They tied the knot.” That became my inspiration! That awesome heart comes from the new die called Petal Cone. Turns out it makes a great heart for your scrapbook pages! The big snowflake is also a die called Snowflake #2. The knot is made from several strands of Hemp Twine that are knotted together and trimmed. I think my hostess will LOVE it!! And, the rest of the gals can leave off the knot and substitute a sparkly round circle in its place. The Petal Cone die also has a label that I’ve used on the left page for a title under the 5×7 picture.

This is a close up look of the array of hearts and snowflakes decorating the left scrapbook page. The snowflakes are from the decorative strip die that debuted in the Holiday Mini. It is still available for you to order. It is called Northern Frost and the number is 120901. The white ruffle matting the hearts is from the Embosslit Die called Scalloped Heart of Hearts. The full heart punch layers over it perfectly. The Small Heart Punch was used for the sparkly white hearts. To make the paper sparkly, I took a piece of scrap Whisper White, inked it up with Versa Mark ink, sprinkled Heat and Stick powder onto it, heated it just until it was glossy, sprinkled Dazzling Diamonds over it and then heated it again to set the glitter into the Heat and Stick. Then, you just punch out your sprakly hearts for the perfect accent!

I know that it is difficult to see in these pictures, but all of the read hearts have been stamped with Serene Snowflakes inked up in Versa Mark. It looks pretty good in person! My Open Scrapbook Club is on the 20th so you still have time to sign up for it. Check out my event calendar here.
