5/31 Mounting Stampin' Up! Stamps - a Video Tutorial

One thing I have wanted to do for quite a while now is to create a series of videos for the brand new Stampin' Up! customer to teach them some of the basics. This is the first one I've made toward that purpose. This video shows the difference between clear mount and wood mount and how to assemble them for stamping. Enjoy!

5/30 Stampin' Up! Strength & Hope Vintage

How about vintage? The Strength & Hope stamp set seems to have an unlimited number of beautiful ways to use it. I used my favorite border punch, Scallop Trim, and some gorgeous lace called Victoria. The butterfly is stamped on a circle cut with the Circle Scissors Plus which is then layered onto a scallop circle die cut. The sentiment come from the stamp set called Fresh Cuts. Elegant Soirée designer series paper pulls it all together.

5/26 Stamping Up! Strength & Hope Card 4

This card is a good "warm up" card before starting a nice long stamping session. It's an easy to make (maybe 5 mins?) all occasion card that uses our Strength and Hope set. In addition to donating a part of the class fee to Beth's Bosom Buddies, I am also donating 20% from all SU purchases online and in person. 5/20 Stampin' Up! Strength & Hope Card 3

This card was inspired by Robin Merriman. I love the clean, cluttered look! The Ribbon of Hope stamp is just a bit sparkly with the addition of Dazzling Diamonds and the help of 2-Way Glue.

Here is a card using the same design, but with a different sentiment and accent. The butterfly is stamped on the corner of the sentiment panel and then stamped again on a piece of scrap paper, cut out and glue dotted to the sentiment panel. A bit of sparkle is added with a Basic Rhinestone Jewel. So easy! I think the guests attending my fundraiser next week will enjoy the options. Read more about the fundraiser by clicking HERE.

5/19 Stampin' Up! Strength & Hope Card Two

This is another of the four cards attendees will get to make at next week's fundraiser for Beth's Bosom Buddies. See this post HERE. The butterfly is stamped with Versa Mark ink onto an Early Espresso Top Note Die piece. I just adore the way our new embossing powder positively "pops" on darker card stock. The accent piece under the ribbon tie is from the Bo Ho Blossoms punch. Isn't it just the sweetest touch? I love it when you can do something so simple and yet have it looks soooo good! (And, simple IS good!)

The label behind the oval sentiment punch out is from one of our extended dies called Matchbox. This die has three lovely labels and this is the smallest of the three options. The swirl is stamped with Old Olive right smack in the center of the card and I think it enhances the look of the sentiment piece.

5/18 Stampin' Up Strength & Hope Card One

This is one of the cards we will make at the Strength & Hope Fundraiser next week. The butterfly is stamped on vellum with Regal Rose ink. It's really quick to cut out and with two glue dots, it's resting prettily on a 1 /34" circle punch out that has the same butterfly image stamped on it, but this time with Pretty in Pink ink. (Vellum makes ink look lighter than it really is. . . that is why is used a shade darker when I stamped on the vellum.)

Here is another variation . . . a summer birthday card . . . just sub an image from Pretty Postage for the Hope sentiment. The background is our pre-embossed paper called Presto Patterns. To bring out the embossing, lightly rub Pretty in Pink onto the panel with a Stampin' Sponge.

Stamps: Strength and Hope (Wood Mount 118100, Clear Mount 123660), Pretty Postage (Wood Mount 123095 Clear Mount 123097)

5/15 Stampin' Up! Best Dad Ever

Wait a minute . . . Best Dad Ever? This card doesn't look anything like the title!! But, it's true!! This card is brought to you by the Summer Mini set called Best Dad Ever! In addition to a great grouping of neck ties, there are four great sentiments. One of them is this Thinking of You sentiment that stamps perfectly across one of the labels from the Lots of Labels Sizzlit set. I created this card for one of the swap groups that I participate in. I really like how it turned out. The little paper daisy is accented with a small Basic Pearl. The embossing is from our new embossing folder called Flower Garden which also debuted in the Summer Mini.

Stampin' Up! Supplies:

Stamps: Best Dad Ever (Wood Mount 120399, Clear Mount 120681)
Paper: Pretty in Pink (100459), Concord Crush (119792), Lap of Luxury DSP (120436)

5/14 Stamp Something About Me Demo Swap

The theme for our May Stamping to Share Demo Meeting Swap was to "Stamp Something About Me." This was a great assignment as all of us got to create something that represented something about us. The best part of all, was sharing with the group. I think we all learned something new about each other at that meeting!

Kathy created a little booklet that took us through the important parts of her life. It was so cute and we learned a lot about "T" as we paged through it!

This is a picture of one of the inside pages. She really put a lot of work into this booklet and I know I will treasure it as a little memento from my friend, Kathy.

Terri's swap was a cute little envelope and note share. Terri loves flowers and enjoys sending notes and cards to her friends and family to let them know that she is thinking of them and appreciates them.

Laura made a card that reflects her love of flower gardening. Gardening outdoors in MN can be challenging, but it's nice to know …

5/13 Stampin' Up! Sunny Fun

Here is a card that I did for a recent swap. Aren't these kids just adorable? I didn't want to spend too much time coloring so I used my Aqua Painter and only colored the water, swimsuits, hair. Oh, and I guess I put a little blush in their cheeks, too. It didn't take long at all and I made quite a few of these!

Kay's Stamping to Share Tip: One of my organizational tips is to store my extra die-cuts and punches in stamp cases handy to my work area. I have a case for each of the following color categories: Subtles, Regals, Brights and In Colors . . . and then because I have so many extras in neutrals, they are divided into three categories: a case for Whites, a case for Black, Gray & Browns, and a case for Cream, Metallics and Light Browns. You just never know when a shape from a punch or a die will come in handy on your card . . . and it could even lead to a cool new way to use it! For example, in the card above, I was trying to figure out how to add a sentiment an…

5/12 Stampin' Up! Flower Fest Make n Take

One of the greatest benefits to getting the new embossing powders in the Summer Mini is that I've fallen in love all over again with embossing! The heat tool is back in its handy spot! One of the features that I'm crazy about is the way this embossing powder absolutely POPS on dark card stock. On this card, I embossed the Wild Wasabi onto Basic Black . . . it just looks sooooo cool! Once again, I used the carry over designer series paper from the Occasions Mini called First Edition. I think it looks great paired with the open images in Flower Fest. I punched the flower out with the Fancy Flower Punch then sponged the edges with Melon Mambo. To give the flower color, I also lightly sponged through the entire surface of the flower. The flower center was created with the BoHo Blossoms Punch using scraps of Melon Mambo and Daffodil Delight paper.

My customers attending my Open House next week on May 17 will get to make this card as one of their free make and takes. So far everyo…

5/11 Stampin' Up! Flower Fest

I love the wide open spaces in Flower Fest a set that debuted May 1 in our Summer Mini Catalog. To create this card, I stamped the flower with Versa Mark onto First Edition DSP, a carryover product from the Spring Mini. Then, I embossed it with Tangerine Tango Embossing Powder . . . love the vibrancy of these powders . . . and punched it out . . . . yup, very little cutting needs to be done with this set as there is a punch for five of the eight images! Then it is just a matter of sponging the edges and lightly sponging color across the rest of the flower. Pretty and fun and easy!! My kind of card!

Here is a picture of the inside panel. The sentiments on this card are from the Level One Hostess set called "Afterthoughts."

Stampin' Up! Supplies:

Stamps: Flower Fest (Wood Mount 122278, Clear Mount 122280), Afterthoughts (Wood Mount 118388, Clear Mount 120121)

5/5 12x12 Scrapbook Pages for Dad

This is the second set of 12x12 Scrapbook pages that my customers will make at this month's Open Scrapbook Club. The "dad" is totally optional . . . I have a journaling box that can be substituted. I love the colors . . . Chocolate Chip for the page base with accents of Basic Gray, Riding Hood Red and Crumb Cake. I added a few "manly" brads to these pages.

Above is the close up showing the brads and the word dad cut from the Simple Alphabet Dies.

This is the alternate look that my customers can pick if they don't want to use the dad sentiment. I made the journaling box with a part of the Top Note die.

Stampin' Up! Supplies:

Paper: 12x12 Chocolate Chip (119926), 12x12 Basic Gray (119923), 12x12 Riding Hood Red (119943), 12x12 Crumb Cake (119929), Neutrals Designer Patterns Pack (117157)

5/4 Stampin' Up! 12x12 Everything Nice & a Confirmation

This is my daughter, Kari, pictured with Steve and I after her confirmation. She picked Adelaide to be her confirmation name after St. Adelaide, known for her wisdom and charitable works. We had a beautiful night with a lovely mass. Afterwords, all the relatives gathered at Perkins for late dinners or desserts or both!

Above is the Everything Nice layout that my customers will get to make at this month's Open Scrapbook Club. I used the brand new Triple Layer Doily Punch that debuted in our Summer Mini. I just love how you can thread ribbon or paper through it and rhinestones really pretty it up!

This layout will make great Mother's Day Celebration pages . . . or maybe baby girl pages . . . or anything girly!! I have three daughters and they really are full of sugar and spice!

This is a close up of the how I threaded the paper through the punches. I made the strip 1/4" wide and it worked perfectly.

5/3 Stampin' Up! Dahlia Fold Flower

The sun is shining here in my neck of the woods so time for the flowers to spring up!! (Ok . . . so just ignore the fact that it was only 27 degrees out when I woke up this morning!) This is a dahlia fold flower. I certainly had no idea how to make one, so I goggled how to do it on U-Tube. What a great source of information!

I used the paper from Lap of Luxury to make the blossom. The Build a Blossom Punch came in quite handy for making the leaves. I'm really going to like having that punch around! Did you know it is still available? Just ask your demonstrator to order it as a write in product.

Have a wonderful day - - - I have to run. Today is Confirmation Day and there are out of town guests coming! Yikes . . . I need to find every single dust bunny asap!!
