11/8 Stampin' Up! Notably Ornate Tag

Last month, I issued an optional "Creative Challenge" to the demonstrators who attend my Stamping to Share Demo Meetings. I cut out pictures from last year's Stampin' Up! IB&C, put them in envelopes and had everyone take one home. Their challenge was to be inspired by the picture. Of course, I had to play, too! Above is a portion of the picture that was in my randomly selected envelope. Below is the tag I was inspired to create.

I used the Two Tags Die and the Big Shot Machine to create my tag from Naturals Ivory  card stock. The scallops along the right edge were from a scrap in my scrap box, originally a part of a cut out using the Clear Scallop Square Die. I used the same stamp set, Notably Ornate and pretty much followed the same layout. I stamped the frame a second time on River Rock card stock and cut a portion out to layer behind the bird providing a bit more contrast. If you click on the picture, you will be able to see a closeup and get a better appreciation of the jewels . . . my new favorite thing to do with our Basic Rhinestones is to color them in with Sharpie Markers. In this case, I used a Brown Sharpie and I think the results are rich and elegant!
