5/31 Mounting Stampin' Up! Stamps - a Video Tutorial

One thing I have wanted to do for quite a while now is to create a series of videos for the brand new Stampin' Up! customer to teach them some of the basics. This is the first one I've made toward that purpose. This video shows the difference between clear mount and wood mount and how to assemble them for stamping. Enjoy!

5/30 Stampin' Up! Strength & Hope Vintage

How about vintage? The Strength & Hope stamp set seems to have an unlimited number of beautiful ways to use it. I used my favorite border punch, Scallop Trim, and some gorgeous lace called Victoria. The butterfly is stamped on a circle cut with the Circle Scissors Plus which is then layered onto a scallop circle die cut. The sentiment come from the stamp set called Fresh Cuts. Elegant Soirée designer series paper pulls it all together.

Only two days . . . today and tomorrow to take advantage of the Stampin' Up! Specials for May. Become a demonstrator with the digital starter kit and save 30% on your kit! Also select stamp sets and digital products are 30% off . . . click here to see my promotions page.

5/20 Stampin' Up! Strength & Hope Card 3

This card was inspired by Robin Merriman. I love the clean, cluttered look! The Ribbon of Hope stamp is just a bit sparkly with the addition of Dazzling Diamonds and the help of 2-Way Glue.

Here is a card using the same design, but with a different sentiment and accent. The butterfly is stamped on the corner of the sentiment panel and then stamped again on a piece of scrap paper, cut out and glue dotted to the sentiment panel. A bit of sparkle is added with a Basic Rhinestone Jewel. So easy! I think the guests attending my fundraiser next week will enjoy the options. Read more about the fundraiser by clicking HERE.

Stampin' Up! Supplies:

Stamps: Strength & Hope (Wood Mount 118100, Clear Mount 123660), Simple Friendship (Wood Mount 113397), Ribbon of Hope (Wood Mount 115552), Curly Cute (Wood Mount 117014, Clear Mount 120510)
Paper: Pretty In Pink (100459), Melon Mambo (115320), Whisper White (100730)
Ink: Pretty In Pink (101301), Melon Mambo (115656)
Tools: Paper Piercer for the placement of the rhinestone jewel (116631)
Accessories: Pretty in Pink 3/8" Taffeta Ribbon (119956), Basic Rhinestone Jewels (119246), Dazzling Diamonds Glitter (102023)
Adhesives: Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive (110755), 2-Way Glue Pen (100425), Stampin' Dimensionals (104430), Mini Glue Dots (103683)

5/19 Stampin' Up! Strength & Hope Card Two

This is another of the four cards attendees will get to make at next week's fundraiser for Beth's Bosom Buddies. See this post HERE. The butterfly is stamped with Versa Mark ink onto an Early Espresso Top Note Die piece. I just adore the way our new embossing powder positively "pops" on darker card stock. The accent piece under the ribbon tie is from the Bo Ho Blossoms punch. Isn't it just the sweetest touch? I love it when you can do something so simple and yet have it looks soooo good! (And, simple IS good!)

The label behind the oval sentiment punch out is from one of our extended dies called Matchbox. This die has three lovely labels and this is the smallest of the three options. The swirl is stamped with Old Olive right smack in the center of the card and I think it enhances the look of the sentiment piece.

Stampin' Up! Supplies:

Stamps: Strength & Hope (Wood Mount 118100, Clear Mount 123660), Teeny Tiny Wishes (Wood Mount 115370)
Paper: Old Olive (100702), Early Espresso (119686), Regal Rose (105130), Whisper White (100730)
Ink: Versa Mark (102283), Old Olive (102277), Early Espresso (119670)
Tools: Big Shot Machine (113439), Matchbox Die (114890), Extended Cutting Plates (113478), Bo Ho Blossoms Punch (119858), 1 3/8" x 5/8" Oval Punch (119860), Heat Tool (100005)
Accessories: Melon Mambo Embossing Powder (123223), 1/8" Early Espresso Taffeta Ribbon (119959)
Adhesives: Multipurpose Liquid Glue (110755)

5/18 Stampin' Up Strength & Hope Card One

This is one of the cards we will make at the Strength & Hope Fundraiser next week. The butterfly is stamped on vellum with Regal Rose ink. It's really quick to cut out and with two glue dots, it's resting prettily on a 1 /34" circle punch out that has the same butterfly image stamped on it, but this time with Pretty in Pink ink. (Vellum makes ink look lighter than it really is. . . that is why is used a shade darker when I stamped on the vellum.)

Here is another variation . . . a summer birthday card . . . just sub an image from Pretty Postage for the Hope sentiment. The background is our pre-embossed paper called Presto Patterns. To bring out the embossing, lightly rub Pretty in Pink onto the panel with a Stampin' Sponge.

Stampin' Up! Supplies:

Stamps: Strength and Hope (Wood Mount 118100, Clear Mount 123660), Pretty Postage (Wood Mount 123095 Clear Mount 123097)
Paper: Pretty in Pink (100459), Whisper White (100730), Card Stock Vellum (101856), Presto Patterns Designer Series Paper (117175)
Ink: Pretty In Pink (101301), Regal Rose (105211)
Tools: 1 1/4" Square Punch (119865), 1 3/4" Circle Punch (119850)
Accessories: 1/8" Pretty in Pink Taffeta Ribbon (119260)
Adhesives: Multi Purpose Liquid Glue (110755), Stampin' Dimensionals (104430), Mini Glue Dots (103683)

5/17 Stampin' Up! Strength & Hope Fundraiser

Strength & Hope Fundraiser
for Beth's Bosom Buddies

Tuesday, May 24 and Thursday, May 26
9:30am - 9:30pm on both days

I am dedicating a full 24 hours over the course of two days to raise money for Beth's Bosom Buddies to walk in the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure. A full $10 from each class fee will be donated to this dedicated group of friends in an effort to help them raise money so they can participate in the Twin Cities 3-Day August 19-21. In addition, I will donate a full 20% from all of my sales (both online and in person) from this event to Beth's Bosom Buddies.

We will make eight cards using the Strength & Hope Stamp set. The class fee is $15. Please RSVP yourself and your friends along with the day and approximate time you plan to attend by e-mailing me. The sign up deadline is Sunday, May 22. Thank you!

I will dedicate the next few days highlighting each card that we will be making . . . along with a few additional Strength & Hope samples that will be sure to inspire you. I myself was inspired to case a layout that I saw online when I was researching fundraisers. The layout I cased is on the lower left in the picture above and it was one that Robin Merriman did with her customers at her fall fundraiser.

Have a wonderful day and thanks so much for stopping by.

5/15 Stampin' Up! Best Dad Ever

Wait a minute . . . Best Dad Ever? This card doesn't look anything like the title!! But, it's true!! This card is brought to you by the Summer Mini set called Best Dad Ever! In addition to a great grouping of neck ties, there are four great sentiments. One of them is this Thinking of You sentiment that stamps perfectly across one of the labels from the Lots of Labels Sizzlit set. I created this card for one of the swap groups that I participate in. I really like how it turned out. The little paper daisy is accented with a small Basic Pearl. The embossing is from our new embossing folder called Flower Garden which also debuted in the Summer Mini.

Stampin' Up! Supplies:

Stamps: Best Dad Ever (Wood Mount 120399, Clear Mount 120681)

5/14 Stamp Something About Me Demo Swap

The theme for our May Stamping to Share Demo Meeting Swap was to "Stamp Something About Me." This was a great assignment as all of us got to create something that represented something about us. The best part of all, was sharing with the group. I think we all learned something new about each other at that meeting!

Kathy created a little booklet that took us through the important parts of her life. It was so cute and we learned a lot about "T" as we paged through it!

This is a picture of one of the inside pages. She really put a lot of work into this booklet and I know I will treasure it as a little memento from my friend, Kathy.

Terri's swap was a cute little envelope and note share. Terri loves flowers and enjoys sending notes and cards to her friends and family to let them know that she is thinking of them and appreciates them.

Laura made a card that reflects her love of flower gardening. Gardening outdoors in MN can be challenging, but it's nice to know that we can paper craft our love of gardening year around!

Chris shared with us that her favorite stamp set is Fifth Avenue Flower, her favorite Stampin' Up! tool is the Big Shot Machine, her favorite stamping technique is called "Watercolor Wash" and her favorite color is purple!

Mary shared with us that one of her favorite things to do is to "go up north." With all the fun things her family does up north . . . I can see why she loves it!

Cindy's card reflected a lot of the joy in her life. First it is a wedding card to show that she is married. Each butterfly represents one of her children and each rhinestone represents a grandchild! The sentiment has a little dazzling diamonds on it because she loves a little sparkle on her cards and in her life! All of our swap cards go into a contest and this card was our Contest Winner and Cindy got to pick a prize out of the Prize Basket!

This card was created by Mary and it represents the fact before she retired, she was a first grade teacher! How totally fun is that?

Tasha made this pretty card to pay tribute to her mom (and also her upline!) and to thank her for always being there for her. Tasha is a mom herself to three great kids.

Katherine created this card to show that her favorite season is Spring and that she loves all the bright colors popping up in her gardens after a long winter of white and brown.

Sharon made a Build a Bear card because she loves "cute" and Build a Bears are cute, cute, cute! She loves having a Big Shot and creating all kinds of fun things with it that she sells and donates the proceeds to her favorite charity.

Angie created this card because she just graduated from college with a degree in accounting!! YEAH, Angie!!

And, this is my card for the Stamp Something About Me Swap. I LOVE raspberries (and blackberries and blueberries and strawberries and pretty much every other kind of berry, too!) As soon as I saw this image in Pretty Postage, I knew I wanted it. I eat berries mixed with yogurt every single day. I also enjoy eating berries in my oatmeal and on my cereal and I really love them mixed in with my ice cream! All of my favorite desserts involve berries from Strawberry Shortcake to Triple Berry Pie. And now you know something about me that I bet you didn't know before! (As a little side note . . . when I was a little kid on the farm, I used run down to the garden in my jammies, pick a bowlful of raspberries, and top it all off with cream and sugar or vanilla ice cream. That was my summer breakfast!)

Stampin' Up! Supplies:

Stamps: Pretty Postage (Wood Mount 123095, Clear Mount 123097), Teeny Tiny Wishes (115370)
Paper: Concord Crush (119792), Rich Razzleberry (115316), Crumb Cake (120953), Whisper White (100730)

5/13 Stampin' Up! Sunny Fun

Here is a card that I did for a recent swap. Aren't these kids just adorable? I didn't want to spend too much time coloring so I used my Aqua Painter and only colored the water, swimsuits, hair. Oh, and I guess I put a little blush in their cheeks, too. It didn't take long at all and I made quite a few of these!

Kay's Stamping to Share Tip: One of my organizational tips is to store my extra die-cuts and punches in stamp cases handy to my work area. I have a case for each of the following color categories: Subtles, Regals, Brights and In Colors . . . and then because I have so many extras in neutrals, they are divided into three categories: a case for Whites, a case for Black, Gray & Browns, and a case for Cream, Metallics and Light Browns. You just never know when a shape from a punch or a die will come in handy on your card . . . and it could even lead to a cool new way to use it! For example, in the card above, I was trying to figure out how to add a sentiment and while digging through my White  Case, came across a banner from the Petal Cone Die. This was all I needed to finish out the design as I decided it looked a little bit like a flag. This led me to check my Brights Case in search of a flag pole and that's where I found the dotted ribbon scallop border . . . perfect!

Stampin' Up! Supplies:

Stamps: Sunny Fun (Wood Mount 123040, Clear Mount 123042)
Paper: Regal Rose (105130), Tempting Turquoise (102067), Whisper White (100730), Brights Patterned DSP (117115)
Ink: Basic Black (121045), ink for coloring - Tempting Turquoise (100814), Regal Rose (105211), Basic Black (101179),Pumpkin Pie (111834), Daffodil Delight (119667)
Tools: Big Shot Machine (113439), Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder (117335), Petal Cone Die for the flag (121810), Paper Piercing Tool to make a hole for the brad (116631), Aqua Painter (103954), Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border (119275)
Accessories: Neutral Brads (119736)

5/12 Stampin' Up! Flower Fest Make n Take

One of the greatest benefits to getting the new embossing powders in the Summer Mini is that I've fallen in love all over again with embossing! The heat tool is back in its handy spot! One of the features that I'm crazy about is the way this embossing powder absolutely POPS on dark card stock. On this card, I embossed the Wild Wasabi onto Basic Black . . . it just looks sooooo cool! Once again, I used the carry over designer series paper from the Occasions Mini called First Edition. I think it looks great paired with the open images in Flower Fest. I punched the flower out with the Fancy Flower Punch then sponged the edges with Melon Mambo. To give the flower color, I also lightly sponged through the entire surface of the flower. The flower center was created with the BoHo Blossoms Punch using scraps of Melon Mambo and Daffodil Delight paper.

My customers attending my Open House next week on May 17 will get to make this card as one of their free make and takes. So far everyone who has seen it loves it and they are looking forward to making their own!! If you are local to me and need a SU Demonstrator . . . check out my Open House information HERE. I'd love to meet you and teach you more about making cards, scrapbook pages and home decor items with Stampin' Up! products!

5/11 Stampin' Up! Flower Fest

I love the wide open spaces in Flower Fest a set that debuted May 1 in our Summer Mini Catalog. To create this card, I stamped the flower with Versa Mark onto First Edition DSP, a carryover product from the Spring Mini. Then, I embossed it with Tangerine Tango Embossing Powder . . . love the vibrancy of these powders . . . and punched it out . . . . yup, very little cutting needs to be done with this set as there is a punch for five of the eight images! Then it is just a matter of sponging the edges and lightly sponging color across the rest of the flower. Pretty and fun and easy!! My kind of card!

Here is a picture of the inside panel. The sentiments on this card are from the Level One Hostess set called "Afterthoughts."

Stampin' Up! Supplies:

Stamps: Flower Fest (Wood Mount 122278, Clear Mount 122280), Afterthoughts (Wood Mount 118388, Clear Mount 120121)
Paper: Tangerine Tango (111349), Basic Gray (121044), Crumb Cake (120953), Very Vanilla (101650), First Edition DSP (121878)

Tools: Heat Tool (100005), Big Shot Machine (113439), Tasteful Trim (120893), Little Leaves Sizzlit Die (114511), Paper Piercing Tool for Pearl Placement (116631)

5/5 12x12 Scrapbook Pages for Dad

This is the second set of 12x12 Scrapbook pages that my customers will make at this month's Open Scrapbook Club. The "dad" is totally optional . . . I have a journaling box that can be substituted. I love the colors . . . Chocolate Chip for the page base with accents of Basic Gray, Riding Hood Red and Crumb Cake. I added a few "manly" brads to these pages.

Above is the close up showing the brads and the word dad cut from the Simple Alphabet Dies.

This is the alternate look that my customers can pick if they don't want to use the dad sentiment. I made the journaling box with a part of the Top Note die.

Stampin' Up! Supplies:

Paper: 12x12 Chocolate Chip (119926), 12x12 Basic Gray (119923), 12x12 Riding Hood Red (119943), 12x12 Crumb Cake (119929), Neutrals Designer Patterns Pack (117157)
Tools: Big Shot Machine (113439), Extended Cutting Pads (113439), Tasteful Trim (120893), Scallop Square Die (115950), Top Note Die (113463), Simple Alphabet Dies (115960), Paper Piercer  to make holes for the brads (116631)
Accessories: Metallic Brads (119741)
Adhesives: Multipurpose Liquid Glue (110755), SNAIL (104332), Dotto Repositionable Adhesive to apply the photo mats temporarily until the photos are fitted to them (103305)

5/4 Stampin' Up! 12x12 Everything Nice & a Confirmation

This is my daughter, Kari, pictured with Steve and I after her confirmation. She picked Adelaide to be her confirmation name after St. Adelaide, known for her wisdom and charitable works. We had a beautiful night with a lovely mass. Afterwords, all the relatives gathered at Perkins for late dinners or desserts or both!

Above is the Everything Nice layout that my customers will get to make at this month's Open Scrapbook Club. I used the brand new Triple Layer Doily Punch that debuted in our Summer Mini. I just love how you can thread ribbon or paper through it and rhinestones really pretty it up!

This layout will make great Mother's Day Celebration pages . . . or maybe baby girl pages . . . or anything girly!! I have three daughters and they really are full of sugar and spice!

This is a close up of the how I threaded the paper through the punches. I made the strip 1/4" wide and it worked perfectly.

Stampin' Up! Supplies:

Stamps: Everything Nice (Wood Mount Only 113818)

5/3 Stampin' Up! Dahlia Fold Flower

The sun is shining here in my neck of the woods so time for the flowers to spring up!! (Ok . . . so just ignore the fact that it was only 27 degrees out when I woke up this morning!) This is a dahlia fold flower. I certainly had no idea how to make one, so I goggled how to do it on U-Tube. What a great source of information!

I used the paper from Lap of Luxury to make the blossom. The Build a Blossom Punch came in quite handy for making the leaves. I'm really going to like having that punch around! Did you know it is still available? Just ask your demonstrator to order it as a write in product.

Have a wonderful day - - - I have to run. Today is Confirmation Day and there are out of town guests coming! Yikes . . . I need to find every single dust bunny asap!!
