1/31 Stampin' Up! Wishes Your Way

This is the card my customers made at my Open House last week. There are a couple of features about this card that made it fun to make . . . first the banners! Our new framelit set called Hearts a Flutter has a couple of different banners to choose from. LOVE those!!

Next, notice the awesome honeycomb embossing on our card stock vellum . . . that's really fun to do. But, I will warn you . . . this embossing folder is similar to the Woodgrain embossing folder in that it embosses very deeply! To prevent cracking or tearing, be sure to watch my video HERE and prevent this problem by attaching a layer of vellum permanently to the inside of your folder and run it through your Big Shot machine with no tabs.

And of course, my favorite feature of this card is the delicate looking designer builder brad with the single fabric rose. I adore the flower trim Stampin' Up! introduced in the Spring Mini. The sentiment on this card comes from the stamp set, also in the Spring Mini, called Wishes Your Way.

Have a wonderful day and thank you so much for stopping by Stamping to Share!

1/30 More Amore 12x12 Scrapbook Pages

I make at least one set of "love" pages every year and what better month to showcase love than February! This is one of the sets of 12x12 pages that I will be featuring at my Open Scrapbook Club. These pages are so much fun to put together . . . I just can't wait to share them with my customers! I was very much inspired by the colors in our gorgeous More Amore specialty paper.

The laser hearts on these pages are part of what makes the More Amore designer paper special. They really come to life when they are paired with layers of Pool Party and First Edition Specialty paper. The Tiny Tags and a sweet little fabric flower seem to be the perfect accents, too.

Here's a close up of the fabric flower trim . . . isn't it pretty? I just can't get enough of it! I think it will be one of the most popular items in our Spring Mini catalog because it is so easy to use and you can use just one or several depending on the look you want to achieve with it.

Have a great day and thank you so much for stopping by Stamping to Share! If you would like to attend my February Open Scrapbook Class, click HERE for more details.

Stamps: Tiny Tags (WM 118091, CM 118592)

1/29 Stampin' Up! Henry Says

Henry says . . . "You're Unforgettable!" He also says . . . "It's a Party" and "It's Your Birthday" and  "Congratulations" and "hooray, hooray" and "Merry Christmas!" Henry has a lot to say and it's all in the stamp set that you can find on page 15 of the 2013 Stampin' Up! Spring Mini.

This is the card my club members will make in February . . . sweet and fun. The embossing across the top was created with the new Borders Scoring Plate that works in conjunction with the Simply Scored Scoring Tool. The "ruffles" along the top are created with one of the Adorning Accents Edgelits. The little "rug" that Henry has plopped himself down on was created with the Petal Cone Die. The designer paper is from the specialty pack called More Amore.

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by Stamping to Share!

Stamps: Henry Says (WM 128090, CM 128093)

1/28 Birthday Card Swap from our Demo Meeting - Part Two!

Our Stamping to Share demo meeting swap with a birthday theme continues today. Cindy Standal put black and silver together - great colors for celebrating those birthday milestones! The sentiment is from Sassy Salutations.

Debby Filiowich takes the Perfectly Preserved stamp sets to new levels of love with this great birthday card . . . which could just as easily be turned into a Valentine's Day card! So cute!

Mary Smallidge used the Nature Walk stamp set to create this elegant Center Step Fold Card. I love the lacy edges she made with the Scallop Trim Border Punch. The sentiment is from Bring on the Cake.

Dorene Bye used the Decorative Label Punch to create a window for her sentiment.

This is a peek at the inside of her card which uses the Spring Mini set called Rain or Shine. The little tiny Happy Birthday stamp is a Sale-a-bration set called Pretty Petites.

Sue McNeill made this oval birthday card using the recently debuted Oval Collection Framelits. Secret Garden was her stamp set with the flower and the leaves quickly cut with the matching Secret Garden Framelit set. The sentiment is from Petite Pairs.

Sue's card is just as pretty on the inside so I had to share!

Dawn Michels created this very cute card using the stamp set called Make a Cake. The sentiment is from Made for You and the great designer paper (love those banners!) is from Patio Party.

Mary Kiley made this darling card using the stamp set called I Dig You. I love how she created the background with circle punches, aluminum foil and the Chevron embossing folder. What great shine and texture!

Thanks so much for stopping by Stamping to Share! Have a great day and I hope you enjoyed the birthday swaps!

1/26 Birthday Swap Cards from our Demo Meeting

Our swap theme for January was birthdays and it was fun to see the creative ideas that my downline came up with. I hope you enjoy them, too! Above is a card by Laura Erickson . . . look at all that embossing! Crumb Cake and Vanilla with the polka dots, the fancy fan and the lacy brocade make for an elegant card with a vintage touch.

Katherine Narog made a winter shadow box card. I love the little snowball that the snowman is about to throw and the rhinestone is a nice bit of sparkle that highlights the sentiment.

Cindy LeMire created this fun and whimsical card. We are "wishing big" for spring right now as it is just 2 degrees this morning!! lol! Her happy little flower reminds me that "eventually," spring will come!

Karen Larson made a gift card holder. When you take off the belly band and open it up . . .

you've got plenty of room to write a message as well as a great little pocket to stow your gift card!

Mary Bellis used the More Amore designer paper to make these paper banners to salute someone on their special day. She made a z-fold card . . .

That opens up to look like this and reveals another banner that sports the inside sentiment.

Linda Watson created this card to celebrate a birthday . . . love the banners at the top of the card and the popped up wish big that further invites you to open up the card . . .

which then reveals an all terrain vehicle from Need for Speed. Love the Chevron embossing to emphasize the wheels!

Stay tuned to see more of our Stamping to Share swap cards tomorrow! Thank you so  much for stopping by today . . . I appreciate you!!

1/25 Getting Manly with You Rule!

This card shows how you can get manly with the You Rule stamp set featured in the Stampin' Up! 2013 Spring Mini. I think that Summer Starfruit is the perfect color for a golden crown . . . and it was fun to use the new oval framelits and my Big Shot to cut it out and mat it. I also used the new Occasions Paper Piercing Pack to highlight the Early Espresso Oval. You might have to click on the picture to see it up close. Paper piercing adds such a nice touch.

The ticket from That's the Ticket stamp set added just the right touch on this King for a Day card. This was my swap card that I gave to my downline at our January meeting. Our swap theme was Birthdays. I'll share my downline swaps with you this weekend so I hope you will stay tuned!!

Shelli Gardner Featured at Scrapbooking.com

Meet the Artist Department
Shelli Gardner, CEO and Cofounder, Stampin' Up!®
By: Judi Kauffman from Scrapbooking.com

Before I met Shelli Gardner on the phone I imagined that our interview would be formal and to the point because of its brevity. We had earmarked half an hour and most interviews for Meet the Artist profiles ramble for much longer. l envisioned that I would mainly describe her accomplishments - which are numerous. But because I already had her official biographical sketch in front of me, the interview became a cordial conversation. We chatted about what is important in her life and how she spends her time when she's not wearing the hat of a corporate CEO.

Shelli is funny and warm and open. As successful as she is, Shelly said she has never done anything solely for the money; that it has always been - and always will be - about people. "My motivator, passion, and focus is people," she said. "When I'm working, it's people; when I'm not working, it's still people. When I have free time I help someone, I'm with someone." Family is first; church and temple work are a high priority, a peaceful balance in the equation. The Sterling and Shelli Gardner Foundation ("we're not as big as Bill Gates," Shelli joked) supports programs like Courage Reins, devoted to therapeutic riding; Ronald McDonald House Charities, and other causes - a different group each year - and Stampin' Up! demonstrators are encouraged to be involved in their local communities with enormous support at the corporate level. "We have been blessed, we want to give back," she said.

Shelli loves chocolates and sweets in general. "I like food," she admitted. Sterling, now retired, does a lot of the cooking and they go out to eat a lot, too. Bikram Yoga is high on her list. She loves the grueling workout and feels it helps her keep pain-free while she deals with recently diagnosed rheumatoid arthritis. "I watch and value my body more now that I know why I hurt, and I've started to get enough sleep lately, too," she reported.

After twins were born in May 2012, Shelli and Sterling now have 16 grandchildren. With five daughters, Sterling was outnumbered for many years, but with sons-in-law and the grandchildren "males now outnumber the gals." Shelli loves to go antiquing and is especially fond of the kind of store where "you have to walk through three times to see it all." The cabin she and Sterling are building is giving her an excuse to look for collectibles. An hour from home, it is a place for the family to get away and a place where they can all eat in one room, unlike their current Sunday dinners where no one goes into the formal dining room and they are casually spread out at various tables.

The family travels together and loves each other's company. By the time we finished our interview I was wishing I were related so I, too, could go to Lake Powell with them. Once a year Shelli and her daughters share a "Gardner Girls Gathering" in their home, or sometimes at a hotel - but never too far away so they don't reduce their precious time together by spending it on planes.

Shelli is an avid reader, enjoying articles that help her to be a better person. "I read in snippets," she said. With so many roles to fill and so many tasks to juggle, it's a wonder she can find time to read at all.

I've left Shelli's day job for last, not because being the CEO of Stampin' Up! is least important to her, but because I thought it would be fun to introduce her as wife, mother, and grandmother, devoted to her church, her community and her country first. She could not be the kind of CEO she is, committed to her staff, the demonstrators who sell her products, and her customers, without being the kind of woman she is outside of that day job.

What follows is straight from Shelli's official biography, enjoyable on its own, but richer, I hope, because you now know who else she is.

"...Shelli began to imagine the possibilities of beginning a stamp company that offered a wide variety of stamp styles, high-quality accessories, and an ongoing commitment to customer service and sharing the art of rubber stamping through home workshops with family and friends. Shelli and her sister envisioned the company working much like a family, where each demonstrator could participate at whatever level worked best for her personal circumstance.

"In 1988, with little college or business experience, Shelli invested her family's nest egg (intended to finance building a new home) to launch Stampin' Up)...

"The initial product line - made up of stamps produced by other companies - fit in a 64-page catalogue. Shelli filled orders out of her living room...

"In 1993, the business moved to Shelli's hometown - Kanab, Utah. The company opened a manufacturing plant to produce Stampin' Up!'s exclusive rubber stamp sets and has since become one of the largest private employers in the community...

[other expansions have taken place since, the catalogue is now more than 200 full-color pages; in 1998, when her sister moved on to pursue other interests, Shelli became the privately held company's CEO, facilities include an 80,000 square-foot-manufacturing plant...and a 300,000-square-foot corporate office, distribution center, and demonstrator support call center...]

"Ernst & Young recognized Shelli with its prestigious Entrepreneur of the Year award in 1999.

"Currently, tens of thousands of demonstrators from the United States, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, France, Germany and the United Kingdom teach the art of stamping..."
