Getting things done behind the scenes!

We have the first of three family Christmases out of town this weekend and I will need to drive up to Duluth to collect my daughter from college so she can attend, too. It's our busiest and funnest time of year for family things and all that is just right around the corner so I am taking some time off to prep for family events.

I also need some time away so I can explore and play with new product from our upcoming Occasions catalog. So, all this to say, I won't be making regular blog posts for a while, nor sending customer newsletters every week.

And, it is after all, one of the many reason I choose to work from home . . . so I can set my own schedule!! Of course, I won't be neglecting my customers who have questions or who are placing orders with me. Thank you notes will still go out! Free Project Sheets will still be sent! Happy Stamper Tokens will not be "on break!" And, I will still be attentive to my downline and to new demonstrators joining our Stamping to Share Team. But, I just won't be "as visual" as I usually am. Have a wonderful day and I'll be back here and there between now and the new year. I appreciate you!!! Merry Christmas!

Stampin' Up! Trimmer for Cutting Cards & Layers Plus the Rule of Thirds with How To Video

The Stampin' Up! Trimmer is a handy tool and even handier when you have a plan for cutting paper into cards and layers. I've had several customers ask me if I would create a video showing them how to cut standard 8 1/2" x 11" card stock into cards and layers. When you are brand new to card making, scoring and cutting card stock into cards and layers can be somewhat of a mystery and it seems like a lot of work until you get the hang of it. Hopefully this video will help you get the hang of it so you can get into the fun creating part of it much faster. Enjoy and thank you so much for stopping by . . . I truly appreciate you!

Stampin' Up! Precision Plate with the (Sneak Peek!) Big Shot Die Brush

Did you know that the Precision Plate is On Sale this week? Yes, through November 14, 2015. Normally this item is priced at $25 and right now through the 14th it is $18.75.

So, this has prompted a few of my customers to ask me about the Precision Plate and how to use it so I decided it was time for a video. Plus, I thought I could also show you a Sneak Peak at some new Glimmer Paper called Blushing Bride (sooooo gorgeous!!) and a new Thinlits Die called Bloomin' Heart. So, here we go!!

I will admit that I wasn't terribly impressed with the Precision Plate when it first came out and I will tell you why.
First, I was not using it properly with my Glimmer Paper. The Glimmer Paper needs to go Glimmer Side down onto your plate. If the Glimmer is face up, you will have a harder time cutting through the plastic coating on the back of the paper.
Secondly, I had not tried it in conjunction with my Magnetic Plate. I was trying to go strictly by directions which said that you get the best results by using it with the Big Shot Platform. Plus, I was worried that if I stuck it to my Magnetic Platform, I would never get it off again! lol! That's not a worry. It slides right off. Now, I don't know if it is just because my Big Shot machine is looser or what, but I had no luck using it with the regular platform but loads better luck using it with the Magnetic Platform.
I decided to make a video that details all three ways of using the thinlit die called Bloomin' Heart. First, I used it with the Precision Plate and the regular Big Shot Platform (as recommended, which as you will see doesn't work for me.) Then with the Magnetic Platform and the Precision Plate over the top of that (which worked perfectly! . . . at least in my Big Shot Machine), and then I used the die with the Magnetic Platform without the Precision Plate. (Which, I feel might have worked better had I used a couple of vellum shims.) Here's the video - enjoy!
